Question / Help Freezing while watching OBS on my second screen

Hello guys !

First of all, i'm sorry on how i speak English, the French accent doesn't help me.

So my problem is, when I stream a game while having OBS opened on my second screen, my game is freezing a lot.

For exemple : I stream my game on my main screen (144Hz) and i put OBS (not minimized) on my second screen (60Hz), my game is freezing quite a lot.
I don't see frames drops, but i feel like the game is stuck at 30 FPS (i still have 250FPS).

Does it come from the difference of frequency ? Or just a setting i haven't checked on OBS ?

Thanks in advance :)

I believe this is a known issue on Windows when two displays have different refresh rates. The workarounds are:
  • Minimize OBS
  • Disable the OBS Preview
  • Use a Projector instead of using the OBS preview directly
  • Keep OBS on the same screen as your game
As far as I'm aware, it's a Windows graphics issue, and not something OBS can control.

As an aside, there is little reason to run your games uncapped. You're just letting the game chew through GPU resources.
