I had been using an AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3 for a bit as a mirror of my gaming pc's monitor and it was working well. However after recently upgrading my camera setup to a Canon VIXIA HF R500 with a AVerMedia Live Gamer Extreme to capture the signal. Any settings I use in obs studio to record or stream using both capture cards at the same time results in artifacts and freezing. The thing is I tryed obs classic and recording works flawlessly on both devices. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Maybe switching the priority to real time in obs studio? I don't know.

My pc was able to handle x264 at 1080p 60fps with veryfast preset and baseline profile @9000kbps with only the cap u3

Both your capture is USB 3.0? USB have limited shared bandwidth, try setting one or both of your USB 3.0 to capture at less resolution like 1280x720 or less. Or try getting a compatible USB 3.0 to PCI-E for a second USB 3.0 controller. You may use device manager to check if you have a second USB 3.0 controller and view by devices. if you do, plug it into another USB 3.0 port until you found a way to make both capture run in different USB controller.

Show us OBS logs? it will show if there is any dropped frames while encoding, but doesn't log nor seem to know when there is dropped video capture frames cause by probably limited shared USB bandwidth.

OBS classic will auto-deactivate and reactivate non-global sources when switching scenes. OBS Studio, does not, as everything is global in a scene collection.
