hi there ! i am having an issue with OBS in regards to dropping frames at weird times :(( here is a timeline of how streaming has gone the past few weeks:
- 08/05 ( a mon. ) - stream was fine, no dropped frames. lasted 2.5 hours
- 08/08 ( a thurs. ) - stream lasted 40 minutes before frames dropped BAD
- 08/09 & 08/10 ( a fri. & sat. ) - streams were fine, no dropped frames. one stream was 7 hours the other was 6.25 hours
- 08/12 ( a mon. ) - stream lasted 3 hours before frames dropped BAD
- 08/15 ( a thurs. ) - stream lasted 2 hours before frames dropped BAD
- 08/16, 08/17, & 08/18 - streams were fine, no dropped frames. streams were: 5.5 hours, 5.5 hours, 3.3 hours
- TODAY. 08/19 - stream had dropped frames immediately when starting
the thing is, for these mondays and thursdays where frames are dropping i did a test stream on an alt account at 4:30 PST and everything seemed fine for the 5 minutes i ran it. and then all of a sudden at 5pm PST when i stream the frames are dropped. gone. stream delay is maxed out and unenjoyable
things i have done to try to fix it:
- installed an old version of OBS
- called my ISP who i then did the following for:
> restarted my router
> moved my router to several different positions in my apartment
> PAID for an upgraded service to improve my internet speeds
> had a team come out to the area to look at the towers around here
- i am connected through an ethernet cables
- my speed tests are fine! 20mbps upload and 150mbps download
nothing has really worked unfortunately :( it's starting to become really discouraging when i'm randomly having frames drop. i tried posting my issue in the OBS discord, but they've told me to contact my ISP who doesn't see that anything is wrong.
i've been streaming since the beginning of may 2024 and i only started having these frame drop issues since 08/08.
