Question / Help Framerate issues in OBS 0.16.2

Hi, my friend and I recently started a Let's Play channel and we're totally new to using the OBS software, or screen capture software in general. We've gotten it to capture flash games without any issues, but yesterday we tried to record some footage of the game Costume Quest, which I downloaded from GOG.com. I don't have a super high-end computer (Lenovo Y40-80, Windows 10, AMD Radeon R9 M275X graphics card, Intel Core i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40 GHz, 8 GB RAM) but the game itself ran just fine, with a decent, if imperfect framerate. However, once we went back and checked out the footage that OBS Studio had recorded, it basically looked like a slideshow, the frame drops were so bad. I've just recently done a complete reinstall of the OBS software, so I'm using pretty much the default settings and using Game Capture mode as the source. Is there anything I can do so that OBS will record the gameplay at a good framerate? If it helps, I did go back and check the logs for a couple of test recordings we did and it did seem like the majority of our skipped/dropped frames are due to encoding lag, not so much rendering lag.

Log file is attached.

EDIT: I should also mention that while I am using Windows 10 ver 1607 (the anniversary update) I haven't experienced any of the freezing/crashing errors mentioned in the stickied thread. This could be because I've kept my AMD Radeon settings up to date.
