Question / Help Frame drops when dropping below recording framerate

Hey all, I'm trying out OBS as a recording solution. I'm getting some pretty nasty frame drops when my game drops below the target framerate of the recording. To test the problems, I'm running Ethan Carter at 150% resolution scale so that my fps is a solid v-synced 60 some of the time, but can dip into the high 50's. When I count the duplicated frames in Resolve, the recorded video is dropping way more frames than the game is. Even more annoying, the recording will continue duplicating frames for 1-2 seconds when my fps returns to 60. I'm recording using Nvenc, but I've also tested this using x264 and the same problems occur. When I record using Nvidia GameShare, I don't get these problems. The number of recorded frames matches the number of rendered frames.

As a side note, I know that Nvidia GameShare uses variable framerate. Is there a way to record in VFR in OBS? The checkbox that I've heard about in older forums seems to have been removed. I run all of my videos through Handbrake anyhow, so it would be great if OBS could just record the rendered frames, instead of trying to duplicate frames.

Edit: Also, I'm getting some strange screen tearing in my videos as well. It's rare, but it happens, usually when the game drops below 60 fps. This seems to happen completely independent of whether or not I have v-sync engaged.
