Question / Help FPS drop when streaming

Hello I've always had an fps drop issue when streaming , in almost every game i've tried to broadcast.

I've been trying to figure out what's causing it , but i can't seem to be able to do so.

Here's my computer specs :

i7-4790k CPU
GTX 970 GPU
8 GB RAM
250GB SSD
Windows 10

I'm going to try to be as informative as i can.My upload speed is 6 , and i use 720P downscaled to 480p , with 1300 bitrate. I'm using these settings to minimize as much as i can the dropped frames in my game when i stream. But even so , it just does not work. I use game capture and full screen in game. I switched to OBS studio about a month ago , and it did make a difference in the FPS drops. It used to be a lot worse when i was using OBS. But even with OBS studio , my game is still losing frames when i am streaming.I've been wanting to stream Overwatch for some time now , and did a few test streams to check if i could , but it did not work.

My Overwatch in-game settings are 1080p, with all low graphic settings and 75% render scale. The FPS setting is set to display-based , 144hz. When streaming the game , my crosshair feels a little off when trying to aim , and my FPS drops to the point it's unplayable when i'm on a teamfight. I really don't understand what my issue is. I've also had this problem when trying to stream Rocket League.I'd appreciate it a lot if you could help me identify the problem or list a possible fix that you think might work.

Here's my log from the last time i tried to stream

Hi,

Although not as good at low bitrate try Nvenc over h.264 as the encoder and see if this still causes fps drops. If this allows the game to run much smoother then I would look at your CPU utilisation during gameplay as h.264 uses the cpu to encode where as Nvenc uses the 970 dedicated Nvenc chip taking the load of the cpu.

To get similar results for quality you will need to increase the 1300 bitrate. Increasing the bitrate means you will need further headroom on your internet upload.

Cheers

Rob.
