Question / Help Fix Corrupted FLV

Hi Guys,

So I've been having some trouble recording lengthy game play vids, due to OBS continuing to record once I've hit the "Stop Recording" button.

It seems to get stuck like that, even after leaving it for about an hour to try and see if it would finish, it never does when set to .mp4, and I end up closing the application.

Initially I was recording in .mp4 format @ 1080p & 60FPS, which I have subsequently learned is bad, and have switched back to .flv @ 1080p & 60FPS, and yet after recording about an hour and half's worth of footage, upon clicking "Stop Recording", I got the same problem, and am now yet again stuck with a corrupted file that needs fixing.

Question 1: When I open up the 8GB .flv file, it plays, but it doesn't seem to finish at the right spot, it only shows about 30 minutes worth of play. Is there a way that I can rebuild the missing seek metadata or somehow fix the .flv?

Question 2: Is there a way that I can remedy this in future, perhaps by setting specific preferences, or am I missing something that is causing this, should I be waiting longer for it to finish perhaps, and if so, are there any indicators that could give me some way of knowing how long I should wait before giving up?

I would really like to continue using OBS, but it's becoming extremely painful having every recording get corrupted. :/

custom settings: opencl=true <-- wrong. Turn that off, would not be surprised if everything started working correctly after that.

Also, your other custom params aren't working, and your recording settings in general are kinda bad. Is there a specific reason you're not just using Simple Mode and the recording presets?

Well, initially the reason I started fiddling with settings was because I wanted to record my mic and desktop audio on different tracks, due to my mic being noticeably softer than the game audio, and I ended up following a few tuts online, to try and "optimize" the recording quality whilst I was at it, which in retrospect is probably where the problem was introduced.

I'll be sure to switch over to simple, and see how that goes.

Is there any way that I could repair the .flv or perhaps recover the remaining footage?

I can't think that a 1080p 60FPS file would be 8GB large, evan at those settings...

If you want to record multiple audio tracks, there is a wonderful guide right here on these very forums.

FLV is a fairly fault-tolerant containers. Are you sure it's actually corrupted? Have you tried opening it in VLC or 64-bit VLC (given the file size)? Have you tried to remux it using OBS Studio's built-in remuxer (File > Remux Recordings)?

Why do you think that 1080p@60f can't reach 8GB after 1.5 hours? I have a recording that is 720p@30f that is less than an hour that is 3.4GB. In fact, I have a 720p@30f recording that is 1h37m07s that is 7.58GB. Recordings can certainly be that large.
