Do you have an actual HDMI capture card? HDMI might provide sharper picture. Some cameras requires capture card as the only way to capture camera to use in OBS.

Some computer having HDMI-IN is only a passthrough to the display that cannot be captured. What computer you have?

I wish to connect up to 3 1080p cameras to an i3 dual core with four virtual cores. When the seller said 4 cores I assumed i5. 8gb ram. The computer has a DVI connector. All the USB are type 1.
I thought I was getting a deal for 150. No Optical drive. I don't think they support Win 10 on it...that I spent a day installing.

Dell Vostro 430.

You probably won't be able to capture three cameras all at 1080p at the same time, but you might be able to use multiple USB webcams to capture at 480p, in addition for an option for PCI-E capture card.

Your computer "Vostro 430" have a PCI-E x1 for a possible HD capture card, if graphics card not taking up both slots.
AverMedia C027 can capture 480i (composite or s-video) and HD (HDMI or component at 1080i / 720p) at the same time.
Several other capture cards can input 1080p but limit capture 1080p at 30 fps, most limited to only one input at a time.

Your computer's limited and old CPU probably cannot do 1080p recordings, 720p may be ok.

sam686; Thank you for your attention, expertise, and time,

My current understanding; if one is going to do network video, there is little or no benefit to go beyond 720p/60. Please comment.

My intent: record at 1080p/60, and convert to 720p/60 for publication.

At present, I am simply trying to get one camera to display an image in Studio.
Some tutorials say a capture card is not always necessary. I know little of these things. My next step is to do research on capture cards and graphics.

Do you think a good capture and or graphics card can cover for the not-so-capable computer?
Do you think the motherboard can handle a faster CPU?
Should I view the computer as a bad investment and start all over?
