Feeding autocue-like subtitles into OBS?

Hi team, I've been doing some online theatre with Ukrainian artists, (since their theatres keep blowing up). I wanted to pick your brains: We'd like to feed subtitles into OBS which could be controlled in real time, like an autocue, sped up or slowed down.

Here's the thing: I can't find any autocue software that scrolls horizontally! Which is a shame, because cropping down an autocue/teleprompter text and running it at the bottom of the screen seems like the perfect solution. I suppose a hack would be rendering out a video of the entire show's subtitles, and pausing it when necessary by turning off the source, but then it'll vanish for the audience.

Another option would be having the text be native as a GDI+ source, set to scroll, but as far as I know the only way to control that speed is to have it's properties box open? So an operator couldn't do it with a Stream Deck or other input.

Do you have any ideas?
