I have used OBS on windows and was trying to go to a Linux based system but receive this error every time i try to start OBS. failed to initialize video: unspecified error.

I cannot find the log file and I can not find anything on this.

3 Gigs of ram

this setup ran fine with Windows but can not load in Linux
downloaded OBS Multiplatform for Ubuntu 14.04/15.04+
installed via the instructions, tried to start OBS and received the error

failed to initialize video: unspecified error
