Question / Help Failed to initialize video error.

Hi. I'm trying to install OBS on an old pc that is running 2 webcams and a temperature sensor device monitoring a hut where our large tortoise (Panzer) lives during the winter. I'm getting an error that tels me the GPU is not supported or the drivers need updating, so before i start, I need to know if the pc in question is up to the job. My aim is to stream the webcam feeds to a website (I own several domains that are used for emails, but have no website) so that i can keep an eye on the tortoise while we're away. The PC is an old Compaq SFF with a Pentium D 2.8Ghz & 2.5GB of ram. I can replace the GPU if need be, but I don't want to spend a disproportiante amount of time and effort if it's going to be a non starter.

Alternatively, if anyone on the forum can suggest a cheap (preferably free) way of streaming the video so I can see Panzer in his hut on my mobile phone, I'd be very grateful. I currently manage via teamviewer.

Many thanks, Alan

Streaming (or better: encoding the video) is a very CPU intensive operation. A Pentium D isn't even remotely powerful enough for this.
Rule of thumb: if you have a PC with a GPU that is too old for OBS, the CPU is too old as well.

Thank you. you saved me a lot of effort. I can look in on him via teamviewer and i get email alerts when the temperature drops, so it's no big deal if the program doesn't work. This is the big fella. We lost his big brother a couple of years ago when we trusted family to look after them while we're away, hence the project. Cheers !
