Question / Help FaceBook Live audio issue

Hello All,

Today was the second FB live stream i've done (I'm a noob lol). And both shows were an hour over different weeks. Similar audio issues a ways into the broadcast, we play and sing guitar.

The audio is fine aaaaand then it isn't. FB doesn't cut off the stream, you can still make out the performers but it gets garbled. One time it got better in a sound check. But both times we went live, its done this.

I've had no choice but to stop the stream and restart it (worked last week). This week i had to close OBS and stop / start stream although that could be coincidence if it was on FBs side. Newer mac here.

Anyone else had weird audio issues like this while streaming to FB? People in the chat seemed to write it off as oh thats FB audio. is that a thing? It works then it goes bad until you restart the stream?

Any way to fix it? Thanks!

Any help on this one please! Not playing copyrighted music so its not cutting us off from that. just a live concert with a couple of guitars. Audios great until it gets randomly garbled. then soooo bad we have to close OBS and restart stream and lose lots of viewers. Straming from a MAC. 20fps 96k audio. 128k did the same. Tried fastest and other speed settings with .264.

Anyone else having this issue? Appreciate the ideas to try. Thanks

Yes I do I am also a noob. My audio issue is different though where after a few minutes the audio stops and cannot be restarted. appears to be an OBS thing. The audio is output is OK in the Apogee One USB audio interface I am using but stops appearing in the OBS meter for that device so of course it never reaches Facebook live. Does not seem to be a lot to change but I tried removing Apogee and reinstalling that audio input without taking down the OBS stream. That did nothing and I checked to see if any settings changed, they had not. This happens virtually every stream I have tested at some random point in the stream session 5,10 15 minutes in but sometimes I can complete the stream with no interruption.

Anyone else having issues? OBS Cowboy -did you ever figure out your problem?

Our setup: X32 mixing board at FOH church, Aux output (mixed for live stream), PTZOptics camera for video, U-Phoria UM2 audio input), MacPro running Catilina 10.15.6. We saw this audio setup (Jake Goslin) for Ecamm live, but Ecamm didn't work so we went with OBS. Taking audio channel input from mixing board, going into the UM2 setup so we can have one output (1/8 plug) going into the PTZ camera (audio input). This seems to work better getting synchronized with the video. Then we take both audio and video from PTZ camera to the laptop into OBS. The sound show up on the sound meter in OBS and the video/audio is in sync. The only issue we have is when run a video with music as scene for pre-live stream to FB/Youtube, the sound is all jittery and terrible (running video separate from file it's fine). And when we initially start up, we get no sound to FB/Youtube live stream, even though it is showing audio on the OBS meters going out. We unhook the audio input to laptop, re hook up, then it works. Any ideas or suggestions are most welcome, including a more streamlined way of getting audio input to OBS from mixer, as long as the audio and video stay synced up. Thanks in advance.

I am having same issue and looking for solution...have not found solution yet

I have a similar problem, which has only recently shown up - about early June, 2021: we use ATEM Mini for video / audio switching which hands off to OBS; which is then streamed to Facebook Live; up until recently, this has worked very well, but, now, without warning or reason, the audio just dropsv - OBS indicates that the audio is simply GONE. It is as if Facebook sends some kind of signalling to OBS to kill all audio that OBS is sending. The OBS studio screen shows NO audio on the level meter, and I know that we are sending audio from the ATEM Mini. So, I have had to restart Facebook and OBS to resume our Sunday church streaming, that works - sometimes for the remaing hour or sometines I have to do this restart process 5 times or more - it will work for a few minutes, then OBS shows zero audio..... I have NO CLUE how to fix this! Any ideas or known fixes will be greatly appreciated!!! - rick in montana

Time to start a new thread.
And see pinned forum post on providing your OBS log Facebook doesn't tell OBS to turn off audio (not even sure if it could). If OBS showing no audio, then issue is between ATEM Mini and your PC... nothing to do with streaming (most likely.. other than maybe system overload)

Isn’t this a sample rate issue? Would explain the garbling after a while and it being gone after restart.

I just installed release 27 for OBS; it works fine as far as recording video & audio from ATEM, Audio still shows on OBS audio meter when connects to Facebook, & when I initiate "Start Streaming" on OBS, but as soon as I go LIVE on facebook menu, the audio meter goes to zero. And stays at zero even after I dismiss facebook and browser connection. I have to restart OBS to be able to work with audio again. ATEM to PC to OBS works fine, until I attempt to go live with FACEBOOK then audio is GONE. Sincere thanks to whom ever looks at this post and responds! I, we (out little church) sure need some help here!
