A few months ago, I got a new external sound card to decrease audio latency from my computer to my headphones. However, while using that external sound card as the audio monitoring device, the audio would gradually desync over time. But it would only desync sending from my external sound card to my headphones. My stream audio was not being desynced at all.
To troubleshoot the issue, I have changed my audio bitrate in OBS, the audio bitdepth on the card, the sample rate of the card to match OBS, changed my OBS version to the last version of 23.x.x, and rerouted my audio so that my external sound card was not an output device to my stream. None of these things seemed to fix the issue. My USB audio output to speakers worked excellent with no desync. I eventually switched my headphones back to my computers motherboard output and the desync disappeared, so I figured it had to be something with how OBS interacts with external sound cards. I don't hear of anyone else having this issue, so it may just be with my type of sound card: Sound Blaster AE7.
I figured this may be something to look at for the future, unless you all know why this is happening. I can't seem to find any fix for it though and I tried to reach out to the forums, but no one responded. So I figured it must be something that isn't common and you would like to know about it
I am currently using OBS version 24.0.3 64 bit for Windows.
