External cameras don't show up in video capture list but Mac camera does

My 2 external cameras won't show up in video capture device list but my Mac's camera does. Not sure why. The camera is a Fujifilm Finepix (DSLR)--HS20 EXR. connected by An HDMI cord to AN adapter and then An HDMI mini. camera is powered on and filming too. Do I need the camera's driver installed? any other ideas?
 
Mac does not accept HDMI input from an external device (camera). You must use an External Video Capture card between the camera HDMI and the input on your Mac.

( I am assuming you aren't trying to connect to the camera to the HDMI display port in your computer ... that will not work in any case as it's an HDMI Out )

If you are trying to go direct from your Fuji please note the the Finepix is not a camera that is supported by the Fujifilm Webcam Software.
It is for GFX, XT, and XH series mirrorless cameras.

Per Fujis Support site :

  1. The following X Series and GFX System digital cameras are supported:
    1. GFX100/GFX50S/GFX50R
    2. X-T4/X-T3/X-T2
    3. X-H1
    4. X-Pro3/X-Pro2

As mentioned above you will need a Video Capture device to convert HDMI from the camera to USB to your computer.
