Question / Help External Camera not working with Mac & Ultra Studio Mini

I'm having trouble getting an external camera (Canon HV30 with HDMI out) to work with my iMac & OBS Studio 0.15.1.

The OBS software recognizes my Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini but when I select it the screen or feed is black. I know the setup is in order up until it hits the OBS software. I've been able to see and hear my external camera in a) Photobooth (the app that comes with all Macs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photo_Booth) and b) the free version of Telestream Wirecast.

All Tech Info
iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)
OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
Open Broadcaster Software for Mac 0.15.1
Canon HV30 HDV Camcorder with clean HDMI out

Just to be absolutely clear: You can see the camera in the BMD software? If so, what settings is it running at?

Also you should post a log.

Lastly, make sure the frame rate you're choosing matches the camera's output. It might 29.97 or 59.94 or 30 or 60 (or even 24 or 23.976fps). It HAS to match. Also make sure your color space (which should be 8-bit YUV 99% of the time) is set correctly.

Hey C3 thanks so much for the quick reply. I did just figure it out. I'm getting the signal for 1080p/29.97 and 1080i/59.94. If you had to guess the better of the two setting, which one?

It depends. If you're doing fast motion stuff, don't mind using deinterlacing and are streaming at 59.94fps+, then 59.94i. Otherwise, 29.97p.

Looking at your log, I see you're streaming/recording at 30fps, so 29.97p would most likely be the better way to go.
