External camera feed

Hi,

I am looking for some advise please. I have been able to add an external camera as a source in a scene and made it fit the screen. I also would like to use the same camera in another scene as a small view over a PowerPoint presentation but I appear not t be able to add it, any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

When you add the camera to the second scene, do NOT 'add new'. Use 'add existing' instead.

Most video capture devices can only be used by one program at a time, and each VCD source counts as a separate 'program'. In the second scene if you want to crop it to be smaller (rather than just resize it which can be done freely) hold down ALT while resizing to quick-crop the source in just that scene.

And if you just want the video to be shrunk (re-sized), you can drag the corners (red squares) to re-size... note source can't be locked to move/re-size
Unsure of what we are referring to? Here's the quick-start guide:

Thanks for the reply.
I have been able to add the source using 'add exisiting' and resize for the scene with PowerPoint however if I try and add a filter to make the video capture device a circle it also effects the camera only feed.

If you need per-scene filters, this can be handled by adding the camera to a Group (even if it is the only thing in the Group) then applying your desired filters to the Group instead.
If you need to re-use a filter set in multiple scenes, you can add the camera to a separate scene, apply the filters to that Scene itself, then add the Scene as a source to your other scenes.

I think that I need to do a similar thing i.e. to show the video source in one scene as landscape but then I want to add a crop to it in another scene so that it just shows as a square. I have added the source to both scenes. When I apply the filter for the crop it applies it in both scenes even though I only want it to apply in one of the scenes. I tried adding a group in the second scene and putting the video source in the group then I tried to apply the crop filter to the group but that doesn't do anything.

Is there any way to use the same video source in two scenes but apply a crop filter to that source in only to one of the scenes?

Correct, any Filters applied to a source will function globally.
It will work on the Group, you may need to crop it down further depending on how the group was created.
You can also hold ALT while resizing a source to perform a per-scene quick-crop.

Thanks for your reply, that has done what I needed
