I'm trying to record game play but not stream. I set a hotkey for starting recording (F9) and stopping recording (F10) but when I press the hotkey, I get the following error: "Failure to connect. Invalid Path or Connection URL. Please check your settings to confirm that they are valid." If I press the Start Recording button, it records correctly but then the game minimizes and has to be maximized again before I can play. Any assistance would be appreciated.

According to the log, you defined a hotkey for start streaming, and pressed that hotkey, and OBS tried to started streaming. Since you didn't configure any streaming destination, you got that error message.
Make sure your hotkey (F9) is really set for start recording only and not also for start streaming. If you don't want to ever stream, remove that hotkey for start streaming, so the entry is blank.
