I keep getting this error code when I try to start streaming, which reads:
"Starting the output failed. Please check the log for details.
Note: if you are using the NVENC or AMD encoders, make sure your video drivers are up to date."

I don't know what this means.

Either the 970m doesn't support nvenc or your drivers are out of date.

How would I fix the issue?

Update the video card drivers with the download from nvidia.
Failing that, change the encoder to something other than nvenc.

In settings - output
