hi!
i'm new to the forum and obs.

when i try to run the program i get the message:

"failed to initialize video.
your GPU may not be supported or your graphics drivers may need to be updated."

the weird thing is i could run it on this computer before reinstalling the operative system.. now i can't run it and i have already updated the graphic drivers

My on board graphics device is "intel(r) 82945 express chipset family"

can someone help me please?

What version windows are you running.
This normally occurs due to DirectX issues as you're running an onboard GPU

* Update chipset drivers
* Update Direct X

If those don't work you'll have you use dxcpl.exe
Can download it from here

Run the exe.
Click on EDIT LIST
Click ADD
Find your OBS64.exe (default install = C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit)
and add that.

At the bottom where it says Device Settings
To the right, ensure you enable the option "FORCE WARP"
Click APPLY

Your gpu is ancient (really ancient) and probably doesn't support directx 10. Even if you manage to run OBS on this machine, it probably lacks the CPU power to do any video encoding.

I am running Win10 on a virtual machine. It has given me the above error after I updated OBS to the latest 27. I installed DXCPL and followed the directions for it to the letter and it still crashes about two seconds into. I am asking is it worth trying to troubleshoot as maybe 27 needs more power to run. Or, should I try to download an older version of it to see if that works. Installing DXCPL seemed to do the trick in the past. Thanks.

Live video encoding for recording or streaming is really hardware and resource demanding! Never use it on base of a virtual machine due to the longer way down to the hardware, even if you don't run into software, driver or emulation issues at first.

Very good advice! However, I installed it on the virtual machine to see what is available for Win 10 as opposed to my Mac OS. Lots of software is offered to PC's that Macs don't get. I used to do minimal things on it, but mostly for fun! Thanks!
