EpocCam vs Obs.camera app for iPhone as webcam

I haven't tested yet but though some of you may have already been through this & could save me some time.

I currently use the obs.camera app with my iPhone 12 Pro (connected with USB) as the main camera on my (pretty complicated anyway) OBS set up.
75% of the time it looks fine, not much latency, great picture - but occasionally, when CPU load is getting higher due to all the stuff going on (c. 80%) - the camera image gets very very pixallated and laggy. The background images/video on my streams are fine though, as is the output - this issue is limited to the 'webcam' input.

iphone is connected directly to the USB C port (no hub) on my maxxed out 2019 13" MBP - running catalina.

Wondering if any of you guys also experience this and if the same happens with EpocCam (I haven't tried it since corsair bought it) or if any devs know if EpocCam is maybe more efficient & might somehow tax my CPU less?

Thanks

I haven’t used the OBS.camera app yet, but I do have EpochCam and OBS Studio on my PC. I don’t think the EpochCam would help with cpu usage. While on Zoom with OBS running the virtual cam as my video output it only uses 3-4% cpu usage. However, EpochCam running idle, not even using it at all, it uses 10-11% usage. Not sure why and I don’t think it increases when in use but that’s still a lot in my opinion. (I’m running Windows 10 with a Ryzen 5 3600 6 core cpu)

That being said, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. Maybe with OBS running all of that at one time it starts to prioritize things and the webcam suffers for it. So maybe taking one task away from it might help run smoother by using EpochCam.
