Question / Help Enlighten me: What value is a 720P60 webcam?

I am not a gamer. I come from a video production, broadcasting & recording background. I see a lot of enthusiasm for the new Logitech C922 and Razer StarGazer webcams.

These appear to offer two advantages over existing webcams; 720p60 and background removal sans green-screen.

What advantage is there to 720p60 from a webcam when streaming your game play?

I would have thought that if you are streaming at p60 OBS would simply double the frames while compositing the webcam into the game play. But I accept that I may not understand the context very well.

Thanks,

Michael

This is a forum for OBS Studio issues so not really sure what you are after. You'd be better off asking on the twitch subreddit.

I use a 1080p 30 camera myself but considering when you stream your webcam is likely to be, what, 150 pixels square, on a720p video 1080 might be a little bit of overkill :-) I guess what I'm saying is a 720p cam is more than enough especially at the right price point

Given the composition of the scene will resize & reposition the camera to something small, I don't know that resolution matters too much.

It's was the frame rate that has me wondering. People seem to think that 60 frames/sec from the webcam is in some way helpful. A useful improvement. I'm not sure that it is in reality.
