I've been streaming fine with absolutely no problems for the past ~8-12 months. Last Wednesday, despite no settings being changed, the video output to Twitch was horrendous. Super choppy, but I wasn't dropping frames. That's when I noticed a message in OBS stating encoding was overloaded. I have no idea what happened since I never changed any settings or hardware in that time frame.
After I shut the stream down on Wednesday once this was noticed, I started playing with settings and really turning down all of my settings, disabling extra monitors, cleaned any dust out of my computer's internals, and even purchased and installed water cooling to replace my CPU fan. No improvements at all have been made. Streaming even the simplest game on my computer causes things to go awry. Any suggestions? I'm incredibly confused and disappointed.
