Question / Help Encoding overloaded issue

Hi everyone, this is my first post in here and I am a bit of a tech novice when it comes to streaming so please bear with me...

I am trying to do a simple stream to Facebook Live, however I get an error that says "Encoding overloaded! Consider turning down video settings or using a faster encoding preset."

I am using a MacBook Pro Retina mid-2014 with 2.6Ghz Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM and Intel Iris 1536MB Graphics card

Thing is I am sure this was working fine last week, but now I am getting this error and when I check the recorded videos on Facebook after the live broadcast has finished, they are sometimes choppy and the audio and video is often out of sync.

I'm trying to upload my settings images but for some reason they aren't uploading so I will try and add them as a comment...

Can anyone help please? Thanks for reading!

Increase your CPU preset. The encoding overload message means that the CPU is taking to much time to crunch a frame down to the required size to hit your bitrate target. Try veryfast, superfast or ultrafast, in that order.

Thanks Narcogen, this has helped and it seems to be smoothest at ultrafast. Is there anything else I can do to make it smoother still? It still doesn't quite have the quality I would have if I was using my phone to do the live broadcast, for example - there still seems to be a very slight delay in the audio, although not overly noticeable, and also the image is still a little jerky, again only a small amount but I want this to be as high quality as possible of course.

Raise your bitrate. The CPU does the most work when it's compressing the largest frame at the highest framerate down to the lowest bitrate. You can offload your CPU by raising your preset (by telling the CPU that lower quality frames are OK) by lowering your framesize, or by raising your bitrate, by saying it does not need to work so hard to make small framesizes.

Great thanks I will give that a try - the bitrate is currently 2500, is there a recommendation for what this should be?
