Question / Help "Encoding Overloaded" issue.

Hi there!

So, I've been trying to get back into streaming after a year or so hiatus and have encountered some issues. Specifically, yesterday (Friday, April 15th) I wanted to stream the Overwatch beta a bit and was getting a message saying "Encoding Overloaded" in OBS, and the stream itself was stuttering and buffering for people at best, or just not working at worst.

I tried it a bit later with Dark Souls 3, same thing. This was weird because the day before I had started streaming Dark Souls 3 and it was working just fine for around four hours. Nothing changed with my system in that time, at least nothing that I'm aware of.

I had a similar issue a few weeks back when I was streaming Nosgoth one night, but didn't have it with another game earlier in the day. So I figured it might've been me not restarting, or the internet being wonky. Now though I'm not so sure.

Computer specifications, if needed:
CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad Core, 3.6 Ghz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900

Most recent log file: https://gist.github.com/f91d8f94f18e85d90420b7bd93ecce1a

Thank you for any help. :)

(Edit: Ooops, apparently it -did- upload the .txt versions even though it didn't look like it! I have other log files, including the ones from my Dark Souls stream on Thursday if needed)

Having the same issue on my machine of it just sucking CPU for seemingly no reason after working fine for a week. We have completely different rigs too so It's definitely an OBS issue In my opinion, lets hope we can get this sorted.

Ouch, sorry to hear that! I'm not sure if it is OBS or not. I tried loading Xsplit onto my system and it gave me a high encoding warning as well and suggested I set the specifications to 540p... Dunno if it worked though since I couldn't find how to actually stream with it. XD

I did try putting OBS down to 540p and still having the same issues though. :/

Update: It looks more and more like it's a result of my ISP throttling our connection on Friday-Saturday. I was able to stream without any problems yesterday (Sunday), first a 15-minute test during the day, and then a 4 hour one at night. I'm not sure why OBS is giving an Encoding Overload message because of it though, but the only time I received that warning was when my game crashed and I reloaded it while OBS was still streaming. Everything else was fine.

You might want to try during non-peak hours as well, Peepeebedee, if you're able to.
