Question / Help Encoding issues when sending multiple RTMP streams to Alkamai

I own a TV studio that does webcasting with a 250MB up and 50MB down connection speed.
Over the last few years, we have never had a problem streaming video reliably.

We have a new client that brings in their own 6 computers running OBS to encode 6 versions of a video and connect to 6 publishing points at Akamai. Each stream in 1.2MB encoded at 720p. Each video differs in that the audio contains different languages. The client tells me that they do this same setup with the same equipment all over the world and never have a problem.

Well at my studio, all start fine but after an hour or two, we begin experiencing problems. The red indicator lights on the OBS interface showing a problem and we see lost packets when pinging either Google or the video server but see no lost packets when pinging our router or modem.

When all is working, we can do a speed test and see an upload speed of about 35MB. Given that we are using about 10-15MB for the encodes this is expected as it is about the difference between the 50MB that we're paying for and the 15mg the encoders are using.

When the problem starts and we do a speed test, we get .3 to .9mb on upload. Download speeds stays high.
Also when the problem happens, our VOIP phones work, although the person on the other end of the line says that our audio is a bit garbled even though we hear them fine. This suggests to me that internet download it fine and the upload is where the problem lies.

At some point, the problem goes away and we can stream again.

When webcasting, the client also has 4-6 Skype connections up and these continue to work properly.

My internet is supplied by Optimum in Northern NJ and they can't find a problem. We have replaced the modem, changed the router and even went so far as to replace the switches - which are gigabit.

I am beginning to think this has something to do with the fact we are streaming multiple RTMP streams. By the way, when I run the port tester http://www.therealtimeweb.com/index.cfm/2004/10/2/fms-port-tester, I get the following results.

WIN 31,0,0,148

RTMP DEFAULT Success
RTMP 80 Success
RTMP 443 Success
RTMP 1935 Success
RTMPT DEFAULT Success
RTMPT 80 Success
RTMPT 443 Success
RTMPT 1935 Success

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
