Encoders supported by OBS

Hi,
probably my question is wrong, however let me pose it:

is x264 encoder the only one supported by OBS ?
My need is to stream two main video signals:
- pre-registered .avi files
- PAL 720x576 video signals from my camcorde.

QUESTION: is it correct the use of the x264 encoder ?
