Hi guys and girls,

I have an issue and was wondering if you can tell me whether or not my computer has the specs to run and if so what settings I should be using?

I’m wanting to capture game footage I’m only recording at the moment but once I get a Ethernet installed I plan on streaming.

I have it currently set a 1920x1080p but my Xbox is capable of higher and so is the elgato hd60x I just want it to record at footage that is smooth to playback no lagging and at best looking graphically.

My laptop specs below:
I also have a 2tb hard drive the videos are saving on.
  • 15.6" IPS FHD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution.
    Hexa-Core 2.3 GHz AMD Ryzen 5 processor.
  • 16 GB RAM DDR4
  • 512 GB SSD storage.
  • AMD Radeon Integrated graphics processor.
  • Connections via 802.11ac WiFi 5, HDMI, 2 x USB 3.0, USB-C 3.1, and Bluetooth 4.2.
  • 12 month warranty
  • Lithium-ion battery with 8.5 hours of run time.
  • Windows 11 in S mode operating system.
  • 720p HD integrated webca

Your laptop specs should be adequate for game recording and streaming, but consider setting your Xbox and Elgato to their higher resolutions for better quality when streaming.

If it's a laptop, the other thing to take a serious look at is cooling. Most have awesome specs, but overheat almost instantly and throttle way back. The idea is to be super-portable, load things quickly, and then sit and do nothing while it cools off and the user looks at it. Not what you want for media production!

If you have to use a laptop, look at "mobile workstations". They're thicker and heavier, as a result of actually having decent cooling. I use one of those, bought new in 2015, and it still works great today.
