Question / Help Enable CUDA for faster rendering?

Hello,
I am using OBS Studio to record gameplay with x264, for certain games I need to use Window Capture, for most games I use Game Capture. If I'm not mistaken, Game Capture also uses some of the GPU power, even though I'm using x264 not NVENC (I have a GTX 980Ti). I came across a YouTube video 'How to enable CUDA on newer GTX cards for faster rendering', and I'm beginning to wonder if this will have any benefits for OBS? (since it encodes and renders video)

Note: I did some research and read through some older OBS threads (dated 2013 - 2016), and it seems like CUDA isn't that recommended, but would like to know if that information is still accurate now in 2018.

Thank you for any clarifications and advice.

CUDA is not able to assist OBS in any way that would benefit scene composition or game capture as these are pure graphics functions running the GPU and nothing that needs general computing power. It would also increase GPU usage instead of reducing it.
