Elgato showing noise in metre.. not recording

Hi, so i have an el gato chat link.. i can see the bars moving in the Audio Meter when people talk within my party.
I can also see the audio bar moving when there is noise in the game. However, whenI record or stream.. there is nothing.

is there a setting i have missed to get this into streams/recordings.?

the bars move as expected, but theres no audio output to the stream/recording

Is it changed to Analog in the Elgato software?

I've managed to get a work around for it, by using an alternative audio source, it will suffice for what i need it for
