Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ through USB Hub?

Hi all -

Has anyone successfully used their elgato HD60 S+ HDMI capture device through a USB hub? If so, which one(s)?

I have tried a StarTech ST7300U3M and a HooToo 7 Port Hub. Both are USB 3.0 (standard A type sockets, not USB-C, and both have their own external power supplies, so nor running from the power on the computer's USB port.

The computer is a new Mac Mini M1. (with only 2 USB ports, hence the need for hubs!)

I've had no issues using this hub: targus 3x usb to usb-c hub. it has passthrough so i'm using the computer's power as well. i run the elgato HD60S+ on it, but i also run my webcam and audio interface through it with no issues. I've been streaming on a 2019 macbook pro (literally just got the m1 mini today but i assume it'll also work with this).
