Elgato caputre card audio coming through desktop audio

Morning all,

I've tried searching for an answer but not had much luck, I've went to friends who use the same capture card and streaming software but they can't seem to help.

The issue I'm having is the Capture card audio plays, I can't hear it but the stream can. So I set it to 'monitor and output' in order for me to hear it. I now have this echo from where it comes through the desktop audio half a second later.

I'm wondering if there's a way that I can hear it, the stream can hear it, but without the echo and it messing with the desktop audio due to other things going through it?

Any help would be amazing, thank you.

Set it to Monitor Only. That way it will play back over your Monitoring device, and if that's your Desktop Audio device (as it sounds like it is, since it's doubling) it'll be captured on that channel and sent out on the stream.

Okay so that has worked, however there's a second or two delay on the audio now? is there some way i can bring it back to speed?

If the capture device has its own audio device, you can disable OBS handling the audio entirely, go into the Windows "Sound" program, to the Recording tab, right-click the device, Properties, go to the Listen tab, and enable Listen To This Device. That should give more real-time audio, still coming through the desktop channel.

Really though, the best way is to use an HDMI splitter and feed the video directly to a devoted display with audio, not jerry-rig it through OBS' preview, which is going to have significant capture+rendering latency no matter what you do.
