Nope. Elgato doesn't make proper drivers for other programs to use on the Mac, so it's largely up to them. There might be a workaround in the works.

They actually made a driver for Windows that would make it work with other programs. They did not do that on Mac.

Jim, you can capture the elgato window, and I have done this however there is a small little snag on it. Actually, it isn't small at all. For whatever reason my mac will let me run on a 60fps with everything but when I get to capture the window of the elgato I have to run at 900bitrate and 10 or lower fps to capture the game in HD. Now this would be fine if it didn't start skipping from there, yes I have tried in higher fps and lower bitrate and higher bitrate, I basically tried every combination, it just won't capture the quality that the elgato window provides, it lags and delays and skips the game. I tried with a game that doesn't have so much detail as Monster Hunter, but it does the same thing, it just won't read it well. Now I have taken into account that my mac just won't be able to run the fps, however when i just recorded on the elgato itself it captured everything perfectly so that isn't it. I hope they make the driver soon but as it stands this is starting to be a dampen on my ability to stream on twitch.

to be honest jim i did try that but obs wouldn't find the elgato window and i would rather is all be ran threw obs then go threw the already delayed game capture application that elgaot uses and then pip it threw to obs.

We'll also have game capture (syphon) support soon which will let you capture the window that way as well if there's issues capturing it.

elgato is telling me that they are beta testing the software to allow it to be used in OBS

That's great news, as long as they meant they were testing a Mac version specifically. I spoke with Elgato phone support a couple weeks ago (their email support is rather useless) and I mentioned that OBS was becoming multi-platform; the rep seemed interested and said he'd bring up the idea of a Mac compatible driver at their next meeting.

When speaking with the rep, he made it sound like Elgato had some loyalty to the OBS software and wanted to make sure there was continued support in future versions. Given a beta and the comments of this rep, the OBS community could probably convince Elgato into finishing the driver.

I still fear it could become vaporware given their previous treatment of the Mac community.

Perhaps you misinterpreted what they said, because OBS for Mac does not support the Elgato because they have not released drivers for it yet.
