Question / Help EGPU with obs as encoder

On a Mac? You can't.

First of all, of the hardware encoders supported by OBS, only one-- QuickSync-- is supported at all on MacOS, and that uses the capabilities of an Intel CPU, not an external GPU.

The GPU based encoders, NVENC and AMF, aren't supported on MacOS at all because the vendor software required for them don't exist on MacOS at all.

would it be the same problem if i used obs in bootcamp

I didn't say that. I said that the issue that would prevent you from using it with BootCamp is that OBS needs more PCI bandwidth than most eGPU setups provide. How much you'll need depends on what you're trying to do with OBS (720p30 content with low motion is one thing; 1080p60 or higher with fast motion content is something else entirely) and how much you have depends on the exact specifications of your laptop, the enclosure you're using, and what version of ThunderBolt you're using to connect it.

Probably not. And if it did, it would likely not offer any performance benefit, and might perform worse than not using it.
