Question / Help Editing In Studio Mode

I noticed the following while in Studio Mode.

1: On the left screen I move a source to a new position
2: I don't want to use the new position so I exit Studio Mode by clicking on 'Studio'
3: The new position I didn't want is now added to my live stream without me making the transition....

I would think that by exiting Studio Mode any changes would be aborted and the live stream left as it was.

Is this normal behavior or a bug or me not doing something to prevent the edit taking place?

Thanks guys...

Well bilehazard, Sometimes it's really hard to get a source back to where you had it before you tried a new position.
I'm sure they will fix it..Probably just an oversight..

It is intended behavior.

The live scene is "cached" any changes you do are directly to your other scenes and sources. Stopping studio mode will just switch to your next active scene and does not revert anything.

Studio mode just allows you to edit while not affecting the currently used live scene configuration but otherwise behaves like the standard mode as well and saves any changes immediately.

So, then it kinda defeats the purpose of editing because you can't move or put the source back to exactly where it was before you started.by just aborting. If you move 5 sources around to new positions and don't like it then good luck trying to get them all back where they were originally.

In another program I use that has the same feature allow you to save the changes or exit without saving them or apply to live scene and then exit the editing.

I like the way Studio works and if it's left the way it is I'll live with it.

Just because it's not possible now doesn't mean it's not possible ever.
Feel free to make a detailed feature request at https://obsproject.com/mantis/

Also as a workaround you could just "Duplicate" the scene you like to work on and if it does not suit you, just delete it without affecting your original scene.

H4ndy,I never thought that for one minute...I was in the present..
The 'duplicate' suggestion by you is a good idea..I didn't know about that until now.

Thanks for your input, it helped a lot.

There is

no undo/redo or apply button
no obs studio overlay (captured/not captured) with info customization
no underline/strike effects from font selection dialog Edit. Text (GDI+)
no layer lock Edit.
no layer link Edit. We have Groups now, so sources can be moved/hidden as one object.
no saturation in color correction Edit.
no export/import scenes/profiles Edit. Possible, but weird.
no float windows for all controls Edit. Something you can change by docking panes.
no non-directshow devices support
no video adapter selection (to run on) Edit. Undocumented feature. Hidden from UI. Direct3D 11 renderer only.
no output to the second video file (scene recording, like cam only)
no option to output media/vlc source to desktop audio Edit. Monitoring feature
no replay buffer (time shift etc.) Edit.
no obs studio virtual webcam device (own virtual device for output) Edit. Look for plugins - there was one.
no gamepad (x-input/direct) and midi devices for hotkeys
no preview 1:1 scale Edit.
no DirectX 12 support for "Game Capture" Edit.
...

and many many other thing we are missing right now.

And I miss you...

Thanks Suslik.
I'm not a gamer so my needs are kinda simple.

I just notice certain things that I had before in another program and miss them but the program is great and I am getting more familiar with all it can do.

And hey, the price is right too.
