Question / Help Editing existing video files

I must be super dense because I can't see how this is done. I have some existing video files and I want to edit them to post on Youtube. Will OBS enable me to do that? It seems like it should, but all the tuts and help items I see talk about recording or streaming. I don't want to record my desktop. I just want to edit and clean up some personal video that I've recorded. Can someone point me to some help relative to that?

The furthest I've gotten was to "browse" my video files into the "Sources" pane. Beyond that, I'm stuck. I have no idea how to launch these files in OBS to cut 'em up and transition b/w scenes. TIA

No. OBS is an application that creates videos from several source types, it is not an application to postprocess and edit existing videos.

You are searching for a video editor. Or a NLE video editor (NLE=non linear editing system). There is a huge amount of video editors, from free to many thousands of Euro.
The first thing you can try is the Win 10 app called "Video Editor". It's already there, it comes with Windows 10. Look into your start menu.
For everything else, fire up your favorite Google search window and search for the keywords "video editor". Before you try one, look for comparison reports first.

Hello Gruntledark,
I see that your requirement is very basic. You do not need to spend any money for this simple job and for YouTube I would recommend that you try Openshot. It is widely used by Youtubers these days and is free of cost.
