Echoing sound

I am moving recordings from my cable box PVR to my laptop using an HDMI Capture card and of course, OBS. The recording sound is fine when I play from the box, but what is being captured on my laptop has sound that can only be described as an echo. It sounds like everyone it talking from a far away mountaintop. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to normalize the sound for my files on my computer?

You have both the video source (which includes audio) and I'm betting you left Desktop audio on, which also has the audio (so duplicate, which in your case, sounds like an echo due to slight timing difference). Disable/Turn Off Desktop Audio and test again
