Question / Help Dual PC gaming rig stuttering when cloning display to capture card

Hey all.

I’ve been having this issue for a while now. When I clone the gaming rig’s display to the capture card (which is plugged into the streaming PC over USB 3.0) the gaming rig experiences crazy stuttering. Bought a second 144 Hz monitor to try and resolve the issue based off of other threads to no avail. Issue persists. I’ll start from the top.

I have a Dual PC setup for streaming.
My gaming rig consists of the following:
i5-7600k
GTX 1070
MSI Z270 DDR4 USB3 MOBO
Asus VG248QE 144HZ

Streaming rig:
i7 3rd Gen
GTX 970
MSI Z99 USB3 MOBO
Acer ED242QR 144HZ
Capture Card: Avermedia Extremecap U3 External capture card USB 3.0

Each PC has a dedicated monitor. For example: The gaming rig is directly connected to the Asus monitor over Display Port. There is an HDMI also coming out of the gaming rig GPU going into the Extremecap U3 capture card. The other end of the capture card is connected to the streaming PC through USB 3.0. I did use the tool provided by Avermedia to ensure the Streaming PC MOBO is capable of running the card. The streaming PC is connected over Display Port directly to the Acer monitor.

I think the problem is the Asus gaming monitor is getting down-clocked to the refresh rate of the capture card. At the same time, I’m not adept enough to know what’s going on for certain. If anyone can provide some insight I would really appreciate it. For now, I simply use extended desktop to achieve no stuttering to stream. Ideally I would clone though, as it is much less demanding on the gaming rig to not have OBS open. Thank you all.
