Question / Help Dropping Frames on Encoding

Hi All,

I recently started to stream to Twitch and have had no issues with a 1080p 60fps stream but I've now started to record the streams to upload to YouTube. Whilst the game and stream seem to run without issue the encoded video seems to be dropping frames according to the obs logs which I'm assuming is the reason behind the random choppy bits in the output videos. It's not constant and doesn't seem to be related to what the game is up to, ie heavy scene or what not. PC specs aren't that bad and regardless of what settings i chose i cant seem to find a sweet spot for them without sacrificing quality or fps. Just as an fyi games are running from an SSD stripe and recording go to a 2TB mechanical drive both running on the same controller but able to sustain a 170mb/s through put between them without issue.

Any help will be most appreciated!

Rob

Use simple output mode, select desired recording quality and use a hardware encoder (I recommend NVEnc for your system).
It will produce the same quality at a slightly larger file size and will reduce CPU demand greatly.

Using CBR mode is not recommended for local recordings.
