Dropped frames

Iv'e been having a lot of problems with recording high end games on PC and recording them with OBS. My PC has an RTX 2060 and an I7 10700 so I shouldn't have any problems with most current games. I'm trying to record Watch Dogs: Legion with everyrthing set to Very High settings. The game runs perfectly, but OBS seems to really struggle with recording it. The thing I'm most confused about is I used to record gameplay with a laptop that had a GTX 1050 and I never had any problems with dropped frames. It recorded high end console games fine and indie PC games fine aswell. Any advice would be greatly apprechiated as to how I can fix this.

Just a few changes & you should be good to go.

Change Color Range to Partial

Change your Preset to Quality, Keyframe Interval to 2 & Uncheck Lookahead & Psycho Visual Tuning.

Unfortunately it didn't work mate. I thought I already had colour range to partial but it didn't seem to make a difference anyway.

And what about your encoding settings, did you change them?

I also noticed you're using 4 B-Frames. I've done some fairly extensive testing with B Frames & I noticed anything over 3 caused some weird artifacts in my recordings.

I also changed the graphics quality in game so everything is as low as possible to see if its the game and OBS still lagged as much so its not the game. I also tried VBR and CBR and the same results so it must be somethign else. This is pretty much the settings I had on my laptop though so it should work.

No shit Sherlock.

I said settings upstream of OBS, what have you changed from default in the Nvidia Control Panel? Example, did you enable Low Latency?

Is D Drive an SSD? If not, try writing to a different drive.

Display and Game Capture Sources interfere with each other. Never put them in the same scene (PC).
