We use obs to capture screen, and our phones to capture faces, and then edit the videos in a video editing program.
Apparently phones use variable frame rates or some kind of compression that requires their video to be transcoded prior to editing, otherwise the audio stops syncing up with the video when you start slicing and dicing the video in the video editing program.
When you add in having to copy the files from the phones to the computer, and then the transcoding, the whole process is cumbersome. Also, it's impossible to edit videos in realtime, switch between phone feeds during a podcast or show to reduce editing time later or to stream it live (because they are not feeding directly to obs along with the screen recordings).
So the pro version of Droidcam comes with 'smooth fps', and I was going to write to them to ask what that is, but I can't find contact info.
Droidcam allows realtime connection to obs via wifi/USB, so we can edit vids in real time while they record (I'm not sure if obs allows this or not, haven't researched it, or any live streaming capabilities), but will 'smooth fps' allow us to skip the transcoding process, and edit the recordings later without sound/video syncing issues?
Side question- does obs record all complete incoming feeds, while also allowing us to cut between feeds for a 'live stream'? That would be handy for streaming live (if that's possible) while also being abl to edit the complete video feeds (unaltered) later, for additional videos later etc.
