Does the elgato stream deck control obs while obs is in the background?

Does the elgato stream deck control obs while obs is in the background? I will explain i am using traktor pro 3 dj software that i need to see on my monitor if i press the stream button on the stream deck will it activate that instruction without bringing obs to the foreground on my monitor? I am new to streaming so please excuse my explaination

Thank you very much for your reply very helpful, i have ordered a stream deck and started thinking and was worried that if i pressed record or stream on the stream deck to activate in obs that it would minimis my dj software and bring obs to the monitor, you have eased my mind thank you
