Question / Help Does the Downscale Filter setting affect both scaling methods?

Hi guys,

Quick question. Does the Downscale Filter option in the Video settings only affect the resizing option in that same menu, or does it also apply to the resizing options in the Output settings?

Downscale filters only affect downscaling that's configured under Settings > Video. They do not affect the rescale output options under Settings > Output.

Ahh, interesting! What filtering method does the Settings > Output option use?

EDIT: So, currently it's impossible to choose a non-default filtering method (whichever it is), use downscaling and record at a higher resolution?

EDIT 2: This and this post seems to answer my question. That's really interesting. From the looks of it it seems like rescaling the output in the output tab negatively affects the image fidelity as opposed to the other method. Is this true?
