Question / Help Does a website notice that I do a desktop recording with a video from the site with OBS Studio?

Hi!

I would like to do desktop recordings with my own comments on content in other videos. Mainly on youtube.

Is there anything in or with OBS Studio that would make it possible for youtube, or any other video-site for that matter, to dectect that I am recording a video from them?

That's not entirely correct J...Many sights allow you to use their content for personal use..
You need to read their 'terms of use' and if not sure email them and ask them.

Thank you very much for your replies guys.

I am completely new when it comes to this so I have not come to the part where I think of copyrights yet :) But thanks for the heads up. My first project would be some commenting on running techniques by known running experts, so I anticipate it would be of significance.

My concern is in the privacy kind area wondering if OBS Studio does some kind of necessary interaction or "what ever" with for example youtube when recording. My initial guess would be that OBS Studio is only doing its work completely isolated locally. So a stupid question maybe, but I had to ask.

What ever website you are on makes a record of everything you do including what you download...
Some stuff, like pics etc., are digitally marked and if re-used can be traced..

I know this is true because I had my own website and I knew everything anyone was doing and if they downloaded any files.

Just be careful, it's always better to get permission..

It doesnt work like that if he just captures the screen or the video.

But I agree: if you want to use any kind of content just ask the creator. This way you are save.
