Of course. OBS should keep its settings somewhere. Just make sure that you got OBS from the official source (for example https://obsproject.com/download ).

It needs access to a lot of system resources to do its job well. Video capture, audio input, etc., etc... Live media and security / privacy tend to be "soft opposites" of each other, so be careful about having personal stuff where it can get onto the stream by accident or in some cases, malice.

(for example, if you keep *everything* open *all the time*, like some people do, and you have a screen capture...)
