I set OBS-MP up for local recording (game capture) and i always get a black screen with just the sound. I have no idea what's wrong. :( Do i have to use streaming to record a video locally?
I start OBS as Admin. I also use VLC to play the videos, they are very small, as they only contain the audio and darkness. :)

I attached a .log file for the game Dream, an UDK game.

Would you happen to be using Steam? If so, have you tried disabling their overlay (reason: this also tries to set up a capture hook in case you decide to start Steam's builtin streaming).

The steam* overlay is generally fine (edit: meant to say steam, not stream). Other conflicts can affect it though.

According to the log there's no issue capturing it. Your log file also doesn't show anything unusual. How are other games performing?

I tried some other games (OpenGL and Direct3D) yesterday and all of them recorded with a black screen. Today OBS works for me and i can not replicate the black screen problem. Strange.
The only problem i have now is, the recording starts sometimes several seconds after i pressed the record key. If i can fix that it would be great.

EDIT: Hmm, i deleted the game capture source and re-added it. Maybe this fixed the black screen?

If it stopped happening all of a sudden (guessing after a computer restart?) it would most likely mean that there was some conflicting hook program open that's no longer active. Just my guess though.

The way that it starts a few seconds after you start capture is actually normal -- it's mostly as a safety precaution (when people try to hook games are just loading up) so there's a few seconds of delay before it initializes the capture.
