Do I absolutely need to install the OBS Websocket Plugin?

I am looking to install a stream deck app on my Android phone - I want that the app is free (at least free to try first) and usable as a stream deck with OBS Studio. Is it a MUST to install the OBS Websocket Plugin on my laptop or are there any apps/methods that I can use to just connect my laptop to my phone (via USB/Wifi) and make the stream deck work on my phone! Thanks.

Stream deck has its own plugin and software. Even the phone version. Now some of the add on things for stream deck requires websockets. There's no reason to be afraid of installing them tho

Thanks, I meant stream deck as a function... not THE stream deck equipment (e.g. apps like Touch Portal etc...). My network gives some windows errors when I install websocket and even after I protect it with a password. From what I have found out websocket connection might not be the most secure way to stream...

If you're not port forwarding the port used by the websocket remote, and you don't have DMZ enabled in your router, the websocket plugin is not exposed to the internet in a way that it could be used maliciously by someone remotely.
