DJ set in OBS, quiet and poor-quality result on Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and Kick.

Hi,

I’ve gone through dozens of tutorials on YouTube about how to set up streaming in OBS to make my live DJ sets loud enough (music, not microphone) and of great quality on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Kick, and Twitch. Unfortunately, no matter how I configure OBS, when I listen to the stream afterward in my car—even at max volume—or on a computer, it doesn’t come close to other creators in terms of loudness or sound quality. It’s too quiet, and the quality of the tracks sounds poor.

I understand that some of my beats might have lower quality, but definitely not all of them. I’ve tried adjusting the bitrate, using filters like gain or compressor, and more, but I can’t find any settings that work. Nothing helps. It’s a nightmare. The difference between my live sets and those of seasoned creators on YouTube is so massive that it makes me want to give up entirely.

No one seems willing to explain what the problem is or how to fix it. Please, I’m asking for help—share some insight into this mystery.

I’m using OBS with Restream.io, Pioneer decks, and an audio interface. I should also add that if I record the stream in OBS and listen to it afterward, it sounds great. Unfortunately, the same stream played back on YouTube or other platforms sounds awful in comparison.

Thank you in advance!
