Display capture with webcam overlay weird lag and speedup

Hello Everyone,

This could be due to not enough CPU power, but I wanted to check here first if there is anything else I could look at.

I am teaching an online summer class for which I am using a chromakey to overlay my webcam image overtop of a powerpoint slide show captured from the laptop display and streamed via virtual webcam to Zoom. It all works great, until I start writing onto the powerpoint slide, or until the powerpoint has an animated graphic (gif). I. At this point, the webcam feed freezes and lags. Once I stop the movement on powerpoint, or move onto the next slide without an animated gif. The camera feed goes into warp speed to catch up, I have to pause my self for a bit for the camera to catch-up. Thankfully the audio is not affected by this while the camera is lagging or at warp speed and everything syncs up in the end.

Here are my specs
MacBook Pro 13 Late 2016
16 GB Ram, dual core i7 3.3 GHz,
Catalina 10.15.5
2 HD monitors plus laptop screen
Webcam feed is via EpoccamHD via wifi at 1280x720 with 2.0 bits/pixel (iPhone instead of my FaceTime laptop camera).
OBS canvas is 1280x720, output is 1280x720 at 30 fps
OBS recording (this weird lag occurs regardless)
Zoom

Suggestions? Besides getting a new laptop?
Thanks
K
