Question / Help Display Capture Black Screen

Good afternoon all,

I have been using OBS studio for awhile now, I have a windows 10 desktop. when i start OBS up fresh, everything works, once i start a game, it works for a minute or two then black screen. almost like it loses recognition of that monitor. I am able to go into properties and switch to my second monitor and see it. if i close down OBS and restart it works fine again. what am i missing? please help!

Using display capture should be considered a last resort for capturing things, not a first step. Why are you not using game capture to capture games?
 
Window capture with fullscreen optimizations disabled and the game running in borderless works.
