Discord rich presence is a bad feature

Please remove it, all my streamer friends now have obs as their status and I'm not about to explain to all of them how to disable it in discord settings

That's a Discord feature. You should ask them to remove it. Or make a guide on how to disable it and share it with your friends.

This is not Rich Presence, which is set/controlled by the individual app, but the Registered Games database on Discord's end. Unfortunately, this means it's entirely outside of our control.

What I do recommend is going into Discord's settings and clicking "Report incorrectly detected game" so that they remove OBS from their games database.

My uninformed guess is that they recently imported a fresh list of games from a game database, and it included Apps have that been uploaded to Steam.

How DO you disable it? It's annoying AF. I run OBS 24/7 but not for gaming or streaming. It's an integral part of my OS and I don't like this sort of integration with Discord. Feels like it might start streaming my desktop on it's own or at the press of a button. Violating the hell out of my privacy.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. Still makes me feel paranoid though.

This thread will become famous over the next few years, if this does not change quickly....

What is the solution to ONLY disabling OBS Studio as a "game" inside Discord? I use that Not-Rich-Presence Feature for people to join me in my games, if they are available. I do not need everybody to see an app they cannot even play or do anything with. It just looks ugly in my status.

Even, if it's not specifically an OBS-caused issue, there should still be some answer here, as people will also look for one here. Especially, since nobody should expect Discord to listen to anyone's feedback.

# Tutorial

1. Go to Settings, i.e. the cog wheel in the bottem left corner of the Discord app's window, right next to your profile strip.
2. Go to "Activity Settings" => "Registered Games".
3. Click on the eye as well as monitor symbol right next to "OBS Studio".

This should only disable OBS Studio from showing up in any form as an activity in Discord.

Discord has disabled this, you may need to restart Discord for the change to take effect.
Doesn't seem like they did anything. I didn't see an update, and after restarting Discord it's still showing up under registered games. Even after you do the temporary fix of reporting it as not being a game.
